My name is Danielle Doyon and I grew up in Fairfield, Maine next to Hillman’s Bakery. While the baked goods there are not super fancy, this is where my love for sweets began. I am the mother of just one boy, a serious gamer and football player at Winslow Junior High. Our family has a cottage on Snow Pond, where we like to spend our spare time in the summer months, chilling in the pontoon boot, tubing, or jumping off the Tarzan swing. I am a huge fan of music and I see U2 as much as I can when they go on tour. I am teaching myself to play guitar… so far I can play Elvis’ “Hound Dog,” and a little of the Beatles “Twist and Shout” and U2’s “With or Without You.” For movies, I love Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Avengers because goodness always prevails, and everyone is trying to save the world from darkness. The movies are based on fellowship and loyalty. I am a serious Patriot’s fan, but admittedly, it’s not the same without Tom.įor my first degree, I went to NH College for Business and English then turned to nursing in my thirties (BSN-Nursing-UMA). I work as a substitute nurse for the local school districts (thus finger-printed and child-safe) as well as for a homecare nursing agency. I love seeing the kids I know in the schools and meeting new children. Many years ago, when teaching English at a community college in NH, summer came around and there were no classes to teach! I started working with a pastry chef and he took me on as an apprentice. I took a baking course at Southern NH University and immediately fell in love with the art and science of dessert-making! I worked in a restaurant in New Hampshire, then served as the Pastry Chef at the Royal River Grill house in Yarmouth and Novelty Restaurant in Philadelphia. I have made desserts for restaurants and coffee shops and my Chocolate Raspberry Tartelette recipe is featured in a book by the A1 Diner in Gardiner A1 Diner: Real Food, Recipes, and Recollections.
